Privacy policy
Last updated September 30, 2026
This policy explains what personal information CARE Logistics, a division of Canadian Appliance Recycling Enterprises Inc. ("CARE", "we") collects when it delivers, collects or tracks a shipment, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how to ask us to correct or delete it. It is written to meet Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Une version française est disponible sur demande à l'adresse ci-dessous.
1. Who we are
Canadian Appliance Recycling Enterprises Inc., operating as CARE Logistics, is a last-mile delivery, freight and appliance recycling company based in Toronto, Ontario.
- Mailing address: 220B Lesmill Rd, Toronto, ON M3B 2T5
- Telephone: 1-833-227-3275
- Privacy contact: [email protected] (Privacy Officer, CARE Logistics)
2. What we collect and where it comes from
Most of the information we hold about you is given to us by the retailer, manufacturer or business (the "shipper") that hired us to deliver to you or collect from you. That shipper is responsible for having your consent to pass your details to a delivery company. What we receive is limited to what a delivery needs:
- Your name, delivery or collection address, unit or buzzer, and postal code.
- A phone number and, where provided, an email address, so we can book and confirm a time.
- The items being delivered or collected, the order or purchase-order reference, and any access notes the shipper passed on.
We also create some information ourselves in the course of the job:
- Booking notes: when we called, what was agreed, the delivery window.
- Delivery status events (dispatched, out for delivery, delivered, attempted).
- Proof of delivery: a photo of the goods at the door or in place, a signature or the name of the person who accepted the delivery, and the time. Drivers are instructed to photograph the goods and the entrance, not people.
- If you report a problem through the tracking page, the description and any photos you attach.
We do not collect payment card details from consumers. We do not buy or sell personal information.
3. Why we use it
- To book, perform and prove the delivery or collection the shipper asked us to make.
- To send you tracking notices about that shipment by email (see section 4).
- To answer a question or complaint about the shipment and to resolve damage or missing-item claims with the shipper.
- To invoice the shipper, which requires us to keep a record that a delivery happened.
- To keep the service secure, including keeping logs of sign-ins to our staff systems.
We rely on the consent you gave the shipper and on our contract with the shipper. We do not use your information for marketing and we do not profile you.
4. Tracking notices and unsubscribing
The emails we send about a shipment (booked, out for delivery, delivered, attempted) are transactional messages about a service you have purchased. Under CASL they do not require separate consent, but every one of them carries an unsubscribe link, and using it stops all further notices for that shipment immediately. You can also ask us to stop by writing to [email protected]. We do not send marketing email or text messages to consumers.
6. The public tracking page
Anyone with a tracking number can look up a shipment on this website only by also entering the delivery postal code (or the last four digits of the phone number on file). The page shows the status, the delivery window and the proof-of-delivery images. It shows a shortened name and the street of the delivery address, never the phone number or email address. Tracking pages are marked so search engines do not index them.
8. How long we keep it
- Delivery photos, signatures and proof-of-delivery images: kept for 24 months after delivery so that damage or non-delivery claims can be settled, then removed.
- Delivery records and invoices (that a delivery to an address took place, what was delivered, what was charged): kept for 7 years as Canadian tax and commercial record-keeping rules require.
- Contact details (name, phone number, email): removed from the delivery record on request at any time after the delivery is complete (see section 9), and in any case when the photos are removed.
9. Your rights: access, correction and deletion
You can ask us, free of charge, to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and where it came from.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your contact details and the delivery photos from a completed shipment. We will keep the minimum record needed to show the delivery happened and to meet our tax obligations, with your name, phone, email and photos removed.
- Stop sending tracking notices.
Write to [email protected] or to the mailing address above, marked for the attention of the Privacy Officer, CARE Logistics. Tell us the tracking number or the delivery address so we can find the record. We will confirm your identity, and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
10. How we protect it
- All traffic to this website is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Staff and shipper access requires a personal account and password; accounts lock after repeated failed attempts, sign-ins from new devices are reported to the account holder, and every sensitive action is written to an audit log.
- Shippers see only their own shipments. Drivers see only the stops on their route, through a link that expires.
- Location data embedded in photos by a phone camera is removed before the photo is stored.
- Files are stored with our hosting provider on infrastructure in North America and backed up regularly.
If we ever discover a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires. To report a security concern, email [email protected].
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. Changes that affect how we use information already collected will be explained here before they take effect.
